Abi Blake | How a local charity helped me rebuild my life after years of domestic violence

In July 2017, Abi Blake’s abusive husband attacked her so viciously she thought she was going to die. Their baby was asleep in the next room at the time.

Abi’s injuries – including a severed spinal cord and a punctured lung – were so severe that she’s now permanently disabled.

Her attacker served just six months of a three-year sentence before being released from prison.

Abi has courageously shared her story publicly on several occasions. She’s campaigned for better sentencing guidance for domestic abuse victims.

She’s talked openly about why – because she didn’t see herself as a victim – she stayed with her abuser until he almost killed her.

In her latest interview – with Cheshire Community Foundation – Abi talks about the ways in which My CWA helped her to rebuild her life.

Abi describes her abusive relationship, the night of the attack and the impact of her injuries. She also praises the support that she and her children had from My CWA.

As well as campaigning on domestic abuse issues, Abi now helps other domestic abuse victims with their own recoveries through her voluntary work.
