My CWA invites supporters to star in new video
Cheshire domestic abuse charity, My CWA is on the lookout for participants to star in a new video to be released on White Ribbon Day – 25th November 2020.
White Ribbon is a global movement to end male violence against women by engaging with men and boys to make a stand against violence. On White Ribbon Day, thousands of people stand up, speak out and say no to violence against women.
My CWA deputy chief executive, Beverley Wrighton explains more: “With an increase in violence, harassment and abuse towards women during the coronavirus pandemic, it’s more important than ever that we show our support to the White Ribbon movement.
“We can’t go ahead with our usual hustling and bustling White Ribbon extravaganza this year due to the pandemic, so we’re supporting the campaign virtually instead.
“To take part, just grab a white t-shirt, a recording device (probably your phone) – and an assistant. Have your helper throw the white t-shirt to you from the left of the screen. Catch it and throw it out to the right. That’s it!
“We’re going to be making a virtual chain with our throwing and catching. The more wonderful supporters we have sending in their videos, the longer the chain will be!”
Beverley continues: “Don’t be afraid to get creative. Baseball glove? Fishing net? Back flip? Super hero? How can you inject a bit of excitement to something as simple as throwing and catching? We can’t wait to see what our supporters come up with!”
“This will be a fabulous, fun project to show our support for White Ribbon – as we do every year – but the message couldn’t be more serious: We must work together to prevent violence and make sure our homes and communities are safe for everyone,” Beverley concludes.
Participants should send their videos to whiteribbon@mycwa.org.uk BEFORE 7th OCTOBER.
By submitting your video, you give your consent for My CWA to use it in the White Ribbon campaign video.
