This Woman

A poem by domestic abuse survivors

In Summer 2020 a group of domestic abuse survivors in Cheshire came together to write a poem that would…

  • Tell the world how it feels to live with an abuser

  • Tell other survivors they’re not alone

  • Show that there’s no “typical” victim

  • Provide hope for anyone who feels trapped

This poem was written by real women with real experiences of what being a domestic abuse survivor means to them.

Poetry writing for recovery

Poetry writing helps people cope with lots of different types of trauma – including domestic abuse – so lots of survivors write poetry as part of their recovery journey.

My CWA runs poetry workshops throughout the year to help anyone who isn’t sure where to start – or just wants some inspiration from others.

Contact us now for details of our upcoming poetry workshop dates.
