Latest video insight talks DVPNs and DVPOs – what exactly are they?
In the second of a series of insights videos, designed to help victims, professionals and anyone interested in understanding how My CWA strives to help victims of Domestic Abuse, the team at My CWA (formerly known as Cheshire Without Abuse) shares its second offering.
In the 5 minute interview, Vicky Sail, ops manager at My CWA talks with DI Claire Jesson from Crewe Police about the distinctions between to the two pieces of legislation known as DVPNs and DVPOs.
A Domestic Violence Protection Notice (“DVPN”) may be issued by an authorised Police Superintendent which sets out prohibitions that, in effect, bar a suspected perpetrator from returning to a victim’s home and/or contacting the victim.
Following the issue of the DVPN the Police then must apply to the Magistrates for a Domestic Violence Prevention Order (“DVPO”). If the required conditions are met the DVPO will be granted.
