Cheshire domestic abuse charity, My CWA and rape crisis charity, RASASC* Cheshire & Merseyside are joining forces ahead of International Women’s Day to appeal to you for help with this year’s #ChooseToChallenge campaign.

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day – which takes place on 8th March every year – campaigns for a gender equal world by celebrating women's achievements and increasing visibility, while calling out inequality.

Supporting the cause

We know that rape and domestic happens to men too – and we know this because we support men when they need our help. But rape and domestic abuse are gendered crimes, with male violence against women responsible for the vast majority of rape and domestic abuse incidents.

International Women’s Day presents an annual opportunity for us to support any movement towards an inclusive world. A world where women and children can live free from fear. This is key to My CWA’s ambitious vision – a healthy community where adults and children can live free from the fear of domestic abuse.

#ChooseToChallenge

The International Women’s Day theme this year is: Choose To Challenge.

“A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

“We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements.

“Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

“From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge.”

Support the campaign

We’d love to include your #ChooseToChallenge selfies in our International Women’s Day campaign. Simply strike the pose, take your selfie and send your photo to info@mycwa.org.uk before 8th March and we’ll add them to our online gallery.

As well as striking the #ChooseToChallenge pose, you can also download and print selfie cards to hold up in your photos. Just visit the International Women’s Day website if you’d like to include them in your photo.
